FORGIVE ME
Digital communication is, like all forms of communication, imperfect and riddled with potential disasters. Because it is formed by discrete pieces of a conversation separated by meaningful stretches of time, there is ample room for others to participate in what might have once been private exchange. I often find myself in the role of ghost writer for friends struggling with personal texts and emails. On the one hand, I jump at the chance to encourage clear and honest communication, expressing my own standard of how humans should behave. On the other hand, I am altering the natural interaction between two people and the outcome of their relationship, and feel guilty about this interference. This piece took over 100 hours to hand embroider, and is documentation, meditation and penance.
